NEUTRON

MARINE OPERATIONS & LOGISTICS LEAD

The Marine Operations & Logistics Specialist will initially be based out of Rocket Lab's Production Facilities in Middle River, MD. This person will develop a high performing team that is responsible for the operational planning and execution of the operations teams and equipment required for the transport and launch/recovery support for Rocket Lab’s Neutron launch vehicle.

You will interface with critical teams within the Neutron development team and third parties including Recovery Engineering, Ground Systems, GNC, Software, Avionics, RF/Comms, Mechanical Systems, Propulsion, Vessel Operators, Barge Vendors and Tugs. Your team will be responsible for successful execution of Neutron Marine Transport operations and you will come in to provide operational input during the development of hardware.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:  

Work with a team of engineers to provide operational guidance during the early stages of developing the Neutron Marine Logistics program
Own the development of operational details for Marine Transport of Neutron flight hardware transport operations at remote sites and at NASA Launch Sites
Develop Routes & Methods of moving oversized cargo from vendors to production facilities
Serve as technical expert and interface for marine service providers required for Neutron Marine Operations including vessel operators, barge providers and Tugboat operations
Build and maintain relationships with key vendors and contractors as needed through the Neutron Marine Logistics system lifecycle
Develop growth strategies for increasing production & shipping rates of Neutron Hardware
Collaborate heavily with Rocket Lab Engineering teams to ensure all systems are operational to support Neutron Marine Logistics
Support Recovery hardware fabrication and testing both remotely and onsite as needed at Wallops Island as well as other facilities

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:   

High School Diploma or GED
6+ years professional experience in an operational logistics role supporting complex mechanical, marine or aerospace hardware
Experience successfully supporting a team through a developing, challenging operational program

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:  

4+ years professional experience in Maritime or Aerospace field
Experience building or operating complex, multi-disciplinary systems including;
- Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Fluids, or Marine Systems
Experience leading operations team to successful outcomes on challenging programs with tight timelines and budgets
Past work experience or projects related to aerospace vehicles/payloads, automotive, aircraft, or marine assemblies
Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
Ongoing drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of work
Detail oriented, organized, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency
Ability to work in fast-paced, high stress and remote environments
Ability to work autonomously, prioritize work, and make resource allocation recommendations that involve risk and uncertainty

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.
Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min 
Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
