Position Description:

Provide support to all of the company’s engineering projects and perform a specialized function within the engineering department. Provide expertise in a specific company core competency. Represent the company at industry briefings, meetings and reviews. Individuals will occasionally attend industry conferences and publish work performed under various contracts for various customers. Supervise engineering teams. Write and review technical documents including reports, test plans, and proposals. Collaborate with program management to define project scope and manage the technical execution of the scope. May have direct management responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform mentoring and review for mechanical designs of rocket propulsions systems
  • Review control system algorithm designs and codes
  • Review solid rocket motor system sizing calculations, CONOPS definition, and modeling of propulsion system performance
  • Participate in design reviews and peer reviews and provide direction for additional efforts
  • Review engineering drawings of mechanical and electrical hardware
  • Identify and document program requirements, review requirements segmentation amongst subsystems, and review requirements verification plans
  • Help program management to identify and document technical risks, determine likelihood and consequence of risks, and review risk mitigation plans
  • Supervise engineers in their work to assure engineering requirements are met
  • Interact with customers on technical matters and prepare and present technical material
  • Provide technical support to developing business relationships and cultivate new business opportunities

 

Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited college/university. May consider equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience is required
  • Proficient with MATLAB, MATLAB Simulink programming; LabVIEW or similar preferred
  • Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project
  • Experienced in engineering project management and reporting
  • Proven ability to successfully operate in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to make and develop new customer relationships
  • Ability to recognize workloads of self and others and delegate tasks to junior staff and peers as needed
  • Manage and mentor junior staff and report their program status to program office
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time

 

Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited college/university. May consider equivalent experience in lieu of degree.

 

Salary Range: $142,826 - $276,161/year
