Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight.  The primary function of this position is to lead digital engineering efforts for the Extravehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) office. As a lead engineer representing Aerospace on this NASA team, you will shape the digital transformation of data management, data integration and online environment/tool implementations for EHP and their respective projects including the Lunar Terrain Vehicle, Pressurized Rover, and Suits. 

Work Model

  • This is a full-time position based in Houston, TX, at Johnson Space Center, offering a Hybrid work model that requires 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serve as a technical and programmatic development expert for NASA’s Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program Office  
  • Support cloud environment planning and implementation with the Program Office and stakeholder organizations 
  • Oversees development and maintenance of custom applications and business tools 
  • Advises Program Office on SharePoint and data matters 
  • Supports documentation development and facilitates customer engagement on needs and requirements 
  • Educating end users on availability, capability, and operation of tools 
  • Effectively and respectfully communicating with managers and researchers across different disciplines and multiple contracts regarding data sets and reporting needs 

What You Need to be Successful - [Project Engineer]

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another related STEM discipline  
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with application and tool development 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization 
  • Experience defining and leading digital transformation projects 
  • Proven Experience managing the software development lifecycle using the Agile methodology 
  • Superior analytical, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including effectively explaining concepts to managers and scientists  
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting and manage multiple concurrent tasks and provide direction on competing priorities 
  • Willing to travel [domestically] approx. 10%
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Master’s degree in science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another related STEM discipline  
  • 8+ years’ experience within NASA  
  • Experience architecting solutions within the Amazon Web Services cloud environment 
  • Demonstrated experience with collaborations supporting multiple research disciplines/specialties 
  • Deep knowledge of NASA IT processes
