Maxar is seeking a Geospatial Manager to work in an agile and fast paced customer environment supporting users whose mission is to solve unique and challenging problems in support of national security. Our customers have some of the most interesting needs and hardest challenges to resolve. Our solutions require integrated models based on large and varied datasets, feeding analytic applications so that we can extract patterns and behaviors obscured within the data to augment the capabilities of human operators. We need an experienced Manager to guide a cross-functional team of data scientists, geospatial analysts, and engineers. Our workflow entails machine learning model development and deployment, geospatial analytics, and customer support for integration of existing tools into customer workflows.

Note: US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph are mandatory for this position and required for consideration.

Location:  Northern Virginia

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
• Participate in technical discussions and provide expert guidance.
• Communicate with multidisciplinary teams and articulate technical concepts and ideas effectively.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure contract adherence and manage burn rates.
• Maintain relationships with internal and government teams to ensure mission success.

• Participate in team briefings to government clients, industry partners, and internal Maxar teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be US Citizen.
• Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to obtain a CI Polygraph
• B.S. in Data Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Geography or related field
• 8+ years of experience in the Intelligence Community
• 2+ years of experience with the Python data science stack (e.g., numpy, pandas, matplotlib, sklearn, etc.) and SQL.
• Ability to work well independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and collaborate with team members to remove barriers and assure mission success. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Have an understanding of government imagery collection and storages processes.
• Experience with Linux command line tools.
• Familiarity with neural network and deep learning algorithms.
• Solid understanding of financial principles and contract management.
• Experience with version control technologies such as Git, GitLab, etc.
• Capability to work effectively in a geographically distributed development team.
• Willing to travel to Herndon, VA and Springfield, VA for on-site SCIF work.

Desired Qualifications:

• M.S. in Data Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Geography or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in personnel management.
• 5+ years of experience with Python and SQL
• Experience working with MSI and SAR data.
• Experience with Python’s geospatial libraries, such as gdal, geopandas, shapely, etc.
• Experience presenting to large groups of government customers on advanced AI/ML subjects.

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$119,000.00 - $197,000.00 annually.
