About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer in the Propulsion and Environmental Systems group you will be part of a team responsible for building a wide variety of spacecraft systems including thermal management, air revitalization, maneuvering thrusters, upper stage engines, and lighting customers in all sectors of the space economy.  As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for vigorously applying your knowledge, experience, and can-do attitude to support several teams: 

  • Support the production teams by improving existing processes and developing new ones and by authoring quality procedures and work instructions.

  • Support the design engineering and program management teams with manufacturing planning and design review for manufacturability.

  • Support the mission assurance team with root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience

  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices

  • Capability working in multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experience with work instruction/traveler development



Preferred Qualifications:

- Background in applying manufacturing engineering principles including:

  • Continuous improvement

  • Process monitoring and control

  • Lean/6 sigma projects

  • Process mapping

  • PFMEA

  • Root cause analysis

  • Design of experiments

  • Technical communication to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Capital equipment selection and deployment

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB)

  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production


 

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.



Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Rarely exposed to loud noises

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

$82,867.92 - $113,943.38
