This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin’s design, manufacturing, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health, and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse portable meteorologists, you will conduct system setup, measurement execution, system checks and maintenance, scanning, modeling and development of metrology systems for the production of various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of New Glenn vehicle design, production, launch systems, and other test and operations.

    • A-Shift 6:30am – 5:00pm_M-TH
    • B-Shift 4:00pm – 2:30am_M-TH
    • C-Shift 6:30am – 5:00pm_TH-SUN
    • D-Shift 4:00pm – 2:30am_TH-SUN

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct metrology system setup, execution, integration in manufacturing, and test environments
  • Perform data analysis and report results using metrology software.
  • Support lab development, maintain FOD controls, 5S activities and routine equipment checks.
  • Perform surveys with contact and non-contact point acquisition, surface scanning, and photogrammetry systems.
  • Maintain cutting edge field competency and work within industry to maintain forward looking metrology techniques and plans.

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of practical experience or equivalent training in large volume portable metrology set-up, execution, documentation, and analysis
  • Experience using Spatial Analyzer or other metrology software.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Acute spatial reasoning ability
  • Experience with portable metrology equipment such as Laser Trackers, Laser Radar, Photogrammetry or Laser Scanners
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • An understanding of large-scale measurement technologies and methods
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Strongly Desired:

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5
  • Experience operating and working from aerial lifts.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs to setup equipment.
  • Experience working with modeling programs such as CATIA or CREO
  • Experience using Windchill or other PLM.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or equivalent regulatory quality assurance program.
  • Ability to support second shift or weekend shift as needed.
