About the Role

Electrical engineers at Sierra Space research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from analog and digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience

  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Prior or Current Non-Destructive Evaluation Level II certification per ASNT TC-1A or NAS-410 in more than one method.

  • Ability Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to engineering teams and production teams.

  • Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings as required.

  • Ability to support the development of NDE inspection techniques.

  • Ability to contribute to research and development of future NDE technology for operational improvements.

  • Ability to assist in training and development of NDE for the team.

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics and documents

  • Advanced understanding of electrical wiring concepts

  • Substantial knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a level II non-destructive evaluation, testing, NDT, NDE, or NDI inspector.

  • Prior Level II Certifications in ET, UT, RT, PT, & VT.

  • Operational experience with Nortec single coil conventional units and/or EddyFi Array coil systems.

  • Knowledge of Magnifi Pro software or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards.

  • Experience with problem solving tools and techniques.

  • Basic understanding of lean principles: 5s, Kaizen, continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Experience inspecting advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, inconel, titanium, and Zirconium.

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

  • Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors

  • Frequently requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes

  • Frequently lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.


Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises


Safety Sensitive Position:

  • Responsible for the safety or security of people or property

  • Inspects, handles, or transports explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials

  • Inspects structures, equipment or vehicles

  • Performs aviation related duties

  • Operate or supervise vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

$32.25 - $44.35
