Maxar is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team to repurpose, refine, and enhance a collaborative mapping system, focusing on Web Services and Java development.  The Software Engineer will have knowledge and hands-on experience with applications architecture and coding best practices.  Our projects are centered around open-source tools like GDAL/OGR, OpenStreetMap, and D3.js.

In this role, you will join a dynamic team of engineers to enhance our software to meet evolving customer demands while ensuring seamless deployment.  We’re looking for someone experienced in automated deployment tools and testing suites, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to shifting priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a team of developers, testers, systems engineers, and DevOps engineers to enhance, improve, and re-purpose existing software.
• Design and develop secure UI/UX solutions that optimize performance and user experience.
• Lead development efforts across the technology stack, ensuring adherence to security best practices.
• Utilize JavaScript libraries such a D3, Node.js, and jQuery to create intuitive and visually appealing UIs.
• Solve complex issues with a holistic approach, exercising judgment in selecting methods and techniques.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain/maintain a US government security clearance
• Minimum six (6) years of experience in UI/UX development, JavaScript development, and web services (REST).
• Active Security+ certification (or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days)
• Proficiency in relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Proficiency with version control (Git)
• Ability to work in a Unix/Linux operating systems
• Understanding of security principles and best practices

Preferred Skills/Qualification:

• Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, preferably in computer science or software engineering
• Active/current US government security clearance
• Experience with Java Swing and Apache/Tomcat
• Knowledge of C++ programming and Agile software development
• Experience with GIS methodologies and applications, particularly OpenStreetMap
• Familiarity with software testing methodologies, including unit, component, and system-level tests

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$108,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually.
