a.i. solutions is seeking a highly motivated Technician to join our Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 3 (ELVIS3) team supporting NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB). The IT (Information Technology) Technician is a member of the Communications and Telemetry team supporting NASA LSP operations and system maintenance, specific to networks. This position requires configuration, testing, maintenance and installation of network appliances, cabling and ancillary equipment needed to meet our mission objective. The candidate will be effective at face-to-face interaction with customers and other contractors, will respond to requests for information and support technical meetings. The candidate must be able to work well with a team and uphold the companyโ€™s core values of customer, company, team, and self.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and document hardware and software systems to include cabling, connectors, and other tangible system components.
  • Ensures operational readiness and health.
  • Ensures installation of assigned C&T hardware and software systems for operational readiness.
  • Configuration and programming of hardware and software systems.
  • Test and analyze hardware and software systems to establish system baselines and correct system failures.
  • Maintain hardware and software systems to ensure operational readiness through system monitoring and periodic maintenance instructions.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software systems to isolate the root cause, develop solutions and provide status reports.
  • Ensures repair processes for hardware and software systems per C&T engineering and/or vendor specifications.
  • Creates necessary documentation to include, but not limited to, drawings, procedures, and spreadsheets to ensure proper implementation. Incorporates redlines to ensure accuracy and configuration management of hardware and software system documentation.
  • Actively strive to further technical knowledge and abilities pertaining to the job.
  • Perform all work within the scope of all company and government procedures of the contract.
  • Participates or performs regularly scheduled project, system, and mission planning meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 yearsโ€™ experience in the field of Information Technology
  • Experience configuring routers, switches firewalls or other networked devices
  • Experience running cable and installing equipment
  • Valid Drivers License

Desired Background

  • Experience in monitoring network environments
  • Experience in testing network
  • Experience with Juniper, Extreme or Cisco network command line interface
  • Understanding of OSI Model
  • Understanding of subnetting
  • Demonstrated abilities to quickly learn new technologies
  • Ability to work on a team under pressure to meet strict schedule requirements
