The main responsibilities of this position will be designing, developing, and testing thermal control and robotics systems. As a Thermal Engineer you will play a key role and contribute to the creation of new technologies in support of Lunar Outpost’s thermal management and energy technologies. The selected candidate must be capable of working independently in a fast-paced startup environment.

As a Thermal Engineer, your key technical responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development of various subsystems with your thermal expertise (incl. design, analysis and testing) during all development phases.
  • Collaborate with engineers of other disciplines to derive requirements that drive the thermal design.
  • Create thermal models and perform analysis to predict the thermal behavior of hardware in different operating conditions.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for thermal (vacuum) testing to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Conduct TVAC testing.
  • Derive test predictions and analyze test data. Derive recommendations for the further development of the hardware.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly and integration of thermal hardware.
  • Write analysis, design and testing reports.
  • Creating documents for different reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
  • Own your subsystems.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in aerospace, mechanical, automotive or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of work in thermal engineering.

  • Strong understanding of heat transfer principles and thermodynamics
  • Experience in using CAD software (e.g. Solidworks, CATIA, NX, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in the application of heat transportation technologies (e.g. heat pipes, loop heat pipes, pumped fluid loops, etc.)
  • Ability and desire to relocate to Luxembourg.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in the space industry
  • Experience with high temperature applications.
  • Experience with different types of thermal insulation.
