Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
As the electrical design & architecture lead for the program's Command and Launch (C&L) Integration and Test (I&T) System Integration Lab, you will:
• Serve as the technical lead for lab instrumentation, custom harness, and electrical specialty test equipment (STE) design
• Design cables and wiring harnesses to support lab instrumentation and field STE applications following weapon system, MIL-STD, and other applicable standards, codes, and regulations
• Design instrumentation systems for collecting thermal, stress/strain, current/voltage, and communications logging from systems under test
• Perform analysis of alternatives for make/buy decisions
• Aid in test planning efforts, identifying solutions to instrumentation and emulation problems presented by the limitations of a lab environment
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of lab requirements documents; translating user needs into testable functional, performance, and interface system requirements
• Work across disciplines and functional groups to maintain list of measurements and instrumentation requirements for both lab and flight test
• Review documentation such as but not limited to codes, standards, schematics, diagrams, equipment data sheets, hazard area classification drawings, and electrical analysis or studies developed by other engineers and designers
• Use lab equipment to troubleshoot hardware/software failures in support of C&L integration and testing
• Identify and document risks and opportunities associated with lab design and implementation
• Support program meetings, provide project status, and interface with a multi-discipline team.
• Maintain your positive and proactive demeanor while navigating a sometimes-ambiguous path to success
• Mentor junior electrical design engineers on the team
Some travel may be required to Promontory, Utah; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and/or Vandenberg SFB, California.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree; 7 years with a Masters; 4 years with a PhD
US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Experience with cable design, electrical harnessing, grounding, and hardware integration.
Working knowledge of various data transmission formats (eg. Analog, Serial, TCP/IP, Fiber etc)
Experience in a test or lab environment
Experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Harness design experience using Siemens Capital or similar ECAD program
Cable routing design experience in a CAD program like Siemens NX
Teamcenter/CPLM experience
Mastery of electrical troubleshooting fundamentals.
Experience or working knowledge of electrical and power systems design, controls systems and/or engine/generator subsystems or components
Knowledge of industry codes and standards, such as the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Building Code (IBC) and Unified Facilities Criteria.
Experience working with external customer to meet program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
Experience with Earned Value Management
Continuous Process Improvement experience
Experience with Agile
