Job description
Duties
- Interprets, monitors and evaluates security policy issues, providing security recommendations to senior managers while supporting implementation of NASA Security requirements for federal facilities.
- Conducts facility security assessments, implementing appropriate levels of protection while providing Center organizations guidance on meeting physical security requirements.
- Carries out physical security countermeasures designed to protect personnel from potential threats, prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, material, and documents, and safeguard NASA assets against damage and theft.
- Assists the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Special Security Officer (SSO) with implementation of NASA and Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) related to management of Secure Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).
- Oversees Facility Security Officer compliance with all requirements of Industrial Security audits from the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DSCA), supporting Industrial Security processes for classification and clearance levels.
- Supports the Identity, Credentialing, and Access Control Management (ICAM) program, authorizing credentials, conducting background checks, managing tour access, and performing other ICAM support functions.
- Supports policies, instructions, and procedures for classification, and declassification authority; document classification, marking, safeguarding, physical storage, transport, and control; security education; and room accreditation.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
- interpreting and providing guidance related to NASA's security policies, regulations, and governance;
- supporting security performance requirements across multiple functional areas including the integration of agency and local policies and services; and
- providing technical advice and guidance for Protective Services such as Physical Security, Personnel Security, Identity and Credential Management (ICAM), Communication Security (COMSEC), Industrial Security, and Classified Information Security Information (CNSI).

You must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible for this position. To be eligible, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in a position no more than 1 grade lower than the advertised position. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. If your eligibility for both merit promotion and/or time-in-grade cannot be determined, your application will be rated ineligible.)
