Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a qualified technical leader to join our growing team, serving as a technical manager of our RF Test team. This position is in Beavercreek, Ohio and requires onsite presence. Our engineering team consists of a unique blend of scientists, engineers, and technicians that specialize in antennas, radomes, electromagnetic materials, structures, and RF testing for military aerospace applications. We design and manufacture solutions for our war fighters to keep our country safe and maintain peace on a global scale. Our team is afforded the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art designs, primarily for classified applications, in both team and individual settings. Key Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Serve in dual capacities as a functional manager, providing direct supervision/management to the RF Test staff and perform as a technical contributor.
- Coordinate test activities, work cross-functionally with Operations and Engineering to understand needs and derive specific tasks to team members, including readiness reviews; typical test activities include Engineering development support or recurring production tests.
- Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with authored and approved security procedures and CONOPS.
- Responsible to develop and maintain best practice department standards, including regular maintenance of RF Test related command media.
- Management of RF test laboratories, including a compact range and additional RF lab spaces.
- Maintain operational readiness of all critical equipment/systems in each test facility, including calibrations, certifications, regular maintenance of STE, and critical spares.
- Management of lab budgets, direct labor rates, including periodic reviews with finance.
- Participation in capital expense planning and execution.
- Support marketing inquires and proposals for relevant RF Test opportunities.
- Daily approval and management of direct report timekeeping.
- Conduct 1:1 meetings, mid-year and end of year performance reviews with direct reports.
- Participate and/or lead RF Test team meetings, including cross-functional meetings.
- Manage direct report execution of training, along with employee goals and development.
- Maintain relevant qualifications and employee certification to those qualifications.
- Manage staffing decisions (recruiting/hiring/termination) to meet business needs.
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, technical management, or closely related field.
- 7 years of industrial experience in RF Test related activities.
- Ability to maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance (U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite), with existing or prior access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications (above and beyond basic):
- Active SECRET clearance with existing or prior access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
- 10 years’ experience in combination of RF Test industrial experience and supervisory roles.
- Hands-on experience in operation and understanding of a Compact Range, including RADAR operation, calibration, test, and data processing.
- Hands-on experience in operation and understanding of various RF Test equipment including Vector Network Analyzer, RF Power Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Multi-meter, etc.
- Hands-on experience with qualification testing and environmental stress screening; preferred experience with thermal cycling and shock / vibration testing.
- Ideal candidate is a proven leader, highly responsible, level-headed, action-oriented, able to see the big picture, high-quality decision-making capability, and are able to influence.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and strong communicator, both written and spoken formats.
- Ability to communicate across all levels of an organization and with external customers; cross‑functional collaboration is critical to success in this role.
- Ability to balance functional management responsibilities while working alongside and leading direct reports on daily work scope.
- Ability to demonstrate team‑centric mindset, responsible for well‑being of team members while being solution‑focused.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
