a.i solutions is seeking a highly motivated Launch Operations Manager with a passion for aerospace to join our Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 3 (ELVIS 3) team at Kennedy Space Center. Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide launch operations management services in support of the NASA LSP Launch Director
  • Create and present individualized Launch Campaign Briefing, informing spacecraft (S/C) customer of launch campaign and day of launch requirements
  • Support S/C launch countdown simulations, work with S/C personnel to define integrated launch processes, launch commit criteria, and launch countdown script and polling timing
  • Create and chair Launch Operations Working Group meetings between the integrated launch team: LSP, Launch Vehicle Contractor, and S/C customer
  • Chair and manage Rehearsal Assessment Team, preparing the S/C customer and integrated launch team for day of launch countdown operations
  • Design and conduct Mission Dress Rehearsals, acting as Simulation Supervisor or rehearsal anomaly team member
  • Review and provide input into launch vehicle Console Operator Notebook and Mission Constraints Document
  • Create and present Launch Management Coordination Meeting presentation for integrated launch day team
  • During day of launch countdown, monitor nets and inform LSP Launch Director of any issues with particular attention to range communications and down range telemetry data
  • Manage LSP Range Conflict Calendar by participating in Range scheduling meetings and launch vehicle manifest coordination meetings
  • Travel (< 10%) including up to 4 weeks during west coast launch campaigns
  • Work a flexible schedule to support launch campaigns and meetings across different time zones

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years of launch operations technical experience – NASA experience is a plus
  • 3+ years of day of launch countdown operations experience in the launch vehicle or spacecraft industry
  • Successful completion of NASA’s NACI background investigation process
  • U.S. Citizenship

Desired Background:

  • Familiarity with NASA’s Launch Services Program
  • Range operations technical comprehension including range assets
  • 3+ years’ experience providing or implementing launch communication infrastructure requirements at CCSFS and/or VSFB
  • Ability to thrive preparing for and in a high stress launch campaign environment
  • Strong presentation skills, confident in public speaking and presenting in public forums to executives
