Able Seaman Deck (Launch & Retrieval)

 

Position Overview

The Able Seaman Deck is a member of a navigational watch on the launch and retrieval vessel supporting manned space flight using spaceship Neptune and its twenty million cubic foot space balloon. This position performs a myriad of skilled tasks at the support level as a member of the deck department.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned deck duties including line handling, boating operations, crane and A-frame operations, davit and lifeboat operations, working in enclosed spaces, at heights and over the side.
  • Respond to shipboard emergencies including fire, flood, toxic gas, man overboard and abandon ship, be able to administer first aid and CPR.
  • Exhibit superior workmanship in the maintenance of deck machinery and spaces.
  • Display acute safety consciousness in every assigned task.
  • Enforce security measures.
  • Maintain the vessel in a consistently high condition of readiness and preservation.
  • Exemplify excellence and accountability for all work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Minimum 18 months of experience with deck service on oceans.

 

Required Documents, Licenses and Endorsements:

  • MMC: Able Seafarer Deck 
  • STCW, AS-D, PSC, RFPNW, VPDSD 
  • TWIC
  • U.S. Passport
  • Valid Driver’s license
