Job description

Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.

Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.

Our business model has disrupted the industry by horizontally integrating a traditionally vertical space and providing propulsion where it’s needed most. The Supply Chain group focuses on several areas to support these goals: strategic sourcing on-time supplier deliveries, procurement, and streamlined logistics.

  • Execute long-term procurement planning for redundancy and contingency to eliminate supply interruption and ensure business continuity.
  • Lead supply chain function including strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement, as well as manage large supply chain projects including supplier transitions and establishment of new supply bases.
  • Mature the framework for supplier audits and supplier quality, working closely with the Quality team to ensure the delivery of defect-free parts and products.
  • Strong desire to grow & develop individuals and teams to fuel Ursa Major’s growth.
  • Develop supplier relationships that enable the best possible lead times, quality, and cost.
  • Develop regular supplier performance metrics & methods and create and lead teams to improve supplier performance as necessary.
  • Optimize the logistics function to ensure timely product deliveries, without damage, and optimal cost for services provided.
  • Streamline purchasing function to maximize efficiency of buyers to service all Ursa Major purchasing needs with minimal process overhead.
  • Lead creation and implementation of procurement policies and procedures, including compliance to AS9100 and government procurement practices.
  • Executes toward results with focus and a sense of urgency.
  • Strong ability to build trust and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Understand best practices and remain aware of the latest industry trends.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Science or Accounting with 10+ years of progressive Supply Chain experience
  • Previous experience in leading supplier management, purchasing, logistics & inventory control required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in operations and production in a hardware-focused organization
  • Direct leadership and management experience
