Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced personnel with P-3 aircraft background to join us as SCA Aircraft Avionics Technician III. You will support a contingent maintenance program with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Lake Charles, LA.
The CBP P-3 fleet consists of Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Long Range Tracker (LRT) high-endurance, all-weather, tactical turbo-prop aircraft. The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. The LRT aircraft are used to intercept, track airborne and surface threats in source and transit zone countries. The P-3 aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, highly sophisticated sensor equipment, i.e., radar, electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) detecting systems.
This is a Service Contract Act position.
Duties include:
Installs and troubleshoots avionics systems wiring in aircraft in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Fabricates, installs and tests installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses. Reads wiring diagrams and blueprints.
Set up, operate ground support, and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems.
Lay out installation of aircraft assemblies and systems, following documentation such as blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
Able to demonstrate proficiency in schematic interpretation and electronics test equipment.
Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.

Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of 7 years of documented aircraft avionics experience and a High School diploma or equivalent; A two year college degree with aircraft avionics specialty OR documented military classroom avionics training and a minimum of 5 years of documented aircraft avionics experience
Ability to complete aircraft modifications, following statement of work, schematics, and engineering dispositions.
Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions.
Ability to wear respirator or other safety gear.
Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces.
Ability to obtain/maintain a DHS CBP Background Investigation; interim CBP investigation is required to start
Preferred Qualifications:
Current DOD Secret Security Clearance
Aircraft electrical experience with P3 aircraft
Completion of U.S. aircraft electrician course
Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent
