Exotrail is expanding its service around Earth in both LEO and GEO orbit. To support it, our In-Orbit-Services team is looking for a Mission Analysis Engineer to design the service mission that will suit our customer needs.

Your job will be to build spacedrop™ mission taking into account spacevan™ capacity and mission constraints with the help of our mission analysis software spacestudio™. Depending on requirement and mission specificity, you will also develop your own tool on top of spacestudio™ API.

Spacestudio™ is based on modern languages (Java, Python) and is targeted to satellite integrators and operators. Our main goal is to provide an easy-to-use, yet accurate and powerful tool for satellite integrators to design their platform with respect to mission and space dynamics constraints, and for operators to operate effortlessly constellations of satellites equipped with propulsion.

Exotrail is looking for a talented Mission Analysis Engineer specialized in space dynamics and optimization to join our development team.

You will work on several tasks including:

📌 Define concepts of transfer for LEO, GEO and beyond

📌 Define a multi-domain optimizer architecture adapted to the missions

📌 Implement the optimizer in Java or Python

📌 Design Rendez-vous & proximity operations missions

📌 Perform mission analysis for internal and external customers

📌 Write technical part of proposal and participate in mission review

You will work directly with the AOCS Team Leader and the Project Manager of a spacedrop™ mission.

This position is open in our office in Massy (15km South of Paris) or our office in Toulouse (city center).

Preferred Experience 💁‍♀️

Exotrail is looking for an engineer with a solid background in space dynamics and spacecraft engineering. A proactive attitude and a high degree of autonomy are also expected. A minimum experience of 2 years is expected for this position, but young graduate with relevant experience can apply.

Interest or previous experience with the following are appreciated but not mandatory:

  • Orbital flight dynamics or mission analysis with experience on GTO-GEO transfer and/or Rendez-vous & proximity operations
  • Perturbation model, orbit propagation and numerical integrator
  • Maneuver control, both impulsive and low thrust
  • Pass prediction, link budget, power budget, target illumination, etc…
  • Multi-domain optimizer tool and method
  • Java and/or Python

In addition, and as importantly, the candidate must have the following mindset:

  • Interest in highly technical work, from the high-level requirements to the final details for manufacturing and assembly
  • High autonomy and proactive attitude
  • Pragmatism, risk-taking and accountable
  • Good communication skills with fluent English
