Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Principal Technical Editor and Writer/LX Administrator, to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.

The Technical Writer will create, prepare, and maintain material and process documentation and manuals. Writer duties include: Interacting with engineers, project personnel, and commodity teams to produce technical documentation as needed; preparing written text; providing editorial updates, coordinating reviews, sign offs, and releases (including Part Admin updates to part objects). Skill in writing original material and in organizing, rewriting, refining, formatting, and editing rough-draft material while maintaining the integrity of the ideas. Ability to edit documents paying close attention to matters of consistency in capitalization, spelling, hyphenation, agreement of verbs and subjects, and other matters of syntax, punctuation, and many other similar details of style and grammar.

Additional LX Admin duties to review/enter/maintain LX records in database including creating new course offerings in LX. LX familiarity with cert role assignments, marking completions and z-coding individuals in the LX system. Pull/post 90 report from LX. Maintain Technical Training Center class catalog and cross reference report. Schedule TTC classes and closeout rosters in LX. Work closely with manufacturing to troubleshoot Solumina workorders discrepancies with LX database.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work on several assignments simultaneously.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School degree or equivalent plus 10+ years of relevant experience in technical writing.

  • Previous experience in desktop and publishing applications, should include the following: Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Previous experience in document updating/coordination/release.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Suite

  • Proficient in Enovia object creations for documents, parts and Training Center roster record storage

  • Completion of LX Admin basic certification course

  • Proficient in LX training center database

  • Proficient in TTC admin duties such as scheduling classes, z-coding, updating database

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Salary Range: $86,000.00 - $121,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
