Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Graphic Design Intern who is fueled by problem-solving, continuously curious, and driven to understand our world, science/technology and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond. 

 

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about learning, open to mentoring, coaching, customer service, and developing problem solving skills. The role requires organizational, time management, and communication skills. The internship will be onsite at Axiom Space in Houston, Texas from September 16 to November 22.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in developing and implementing designs for various print, digital, and social media materials, including, but not limited to brochures, one-pagers, social media templates, presentations, merchandise, and signage for both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ideate and conceptualize innovative ideas and gain a comprehensive understanding of project objectives, asset creation requirements, and deadlines. 
  • Demonstrate comprehension and application of Axiom Space's brand guidelines and standards to maintain a cohesive visual identity throughout all design projects.   
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new challenges. 
  • Plus: Create detailed 3D animations and visual effects that depict space infrastructure, spacecraft maneuvers, and scientific experiments in microgravity. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Rising Junior or Senior or Advanced Degree in graphic design, animation, visual effects, marketing, communications, or similar field
  • Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, SD)
  • Plus: Proficiency in 3D modeling, rigging, and animation software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, or Cinema 4D.  


Essential Functions

  • Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 

 Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
  • Equipment and Machines
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

 

Skills

  • Knowledge of Adobe CC, Microsoft Office Suite, and other design programs.  
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to juggle, prioritize, and keep track of multiple tasks and projects.  
  • Plus: 3D design/web design/motion graphic and animation experience.
