  • This position is located at the RTS Operations Center in Huntsville, Alabama, relocation assistance is available.

  • This position is eligible for a situational-based telecommuting schedule.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Software Engineering Department by installing, maintaining, monitoring multiple database servers on physical and virtual platforms in support of RTS initiatives.
  • Perform the installation, patching, and monitoring of database servers on Red Hat Linux Enterprise systems; continuously review and implement best practices for installation, maintenance, and database backup plans.
  • Maintain a secure computing environment including but not limited to: applying quarterly Oracle patches; analyzing and/or remediating open DISA Database STIG findings within the Oracle, MySQL, or MariaDB enclaves.
  • Work closely with the Software Engineering Manager to accomplish goals related to Database Administration.
  • Provide clear documentation of the database setup and architecture; write procedures for backup and disaster recovery.
  • Attend internal Software Issue Review Boards (IRBs).
  • Perform other related functions as needed or assigned.

 

SKILLS DESIRED:
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with Oracle DB, MySQL, and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Familiar with Oracle RMAN / Oracle Wallet.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem solving skills related to Database Administration and Software development and maintenance.
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, TEAMS.
  • Oracle Database experience desired.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment with time constraints.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
  • Five (5) or more years’ Database Administration experience in an Information Technology and/or Software Engineering environment.
  • Security+, CySA+, GICSP, or similar certification meeting DoD 8140.01 / DoD 8570.01 baseline certification for IAT Level II.
  • CE (Computer Environment) Linux+, Server+, or similar certification meeting DoD 8140.01/ DoD 8570.01 baseline certification for IAT Level II within 3 months of hire.
