Summary

The HR Operations Manager is an essential piece of our global, purpose-driven organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Global HR, this position will have an opportunity to develop and update policies, programs, processes and systems to better serve our employees as we scale. The successful candidate has strong operational skills with a high attention to detail, outstanding time management and communication skills, a commitment to exceptional customer support, and the ability to build trust with our employees. This person must be comfortable dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters. Our ideal candidate enjoys working in dynamic and high-growth environments and is interested in gaining exposure to a variety of HR disciplines.


Roles and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the HR Operations Manager will be divided into two roles, one supporting Astroscale Holdings staff, primarily in Tokyo, the other working with HR teams in our entities around the globe. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;

  • In the role supporting Astroscale Holdings staff, the candidate will:
    • Provide guidance and direction to employees and managers regarding company HR policies and procedures that champion the company’s vision, values and culture.
    • Provide front-line support in the prevention and resolution of employee questions or concerns.
    • Manage onboarding, offboarding, and other employee lifecycle events and procedures,
    • Securely and confidentially track and organize all forms of confidential employee data.
  • In the role working in coordination with the Astroscale entities globally, the candidate will:
    • Collaborate closely with entity HR representatives globally to coordinate HR related projects.
    • Assist VP of HR at Astroscale Holdings Inc to drive global initiatives to implement consistent programs, processes and policies to provide same experiences to employees around the globe.
    • Advocate Astroscale culture and values across all entities.


Required Experience and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of HR operations or generalist experience.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement for the organization and effectively implement changes.
  • Experience understanding and applying company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguity.
  • Ability to be flexible and work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
  • Native Japanese language capability and professional verbal and written communications in English, with minimum TOEIC score of 800.


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Prior experience in a centralized HR department or shared services organization.
  • Experience with Global HRIS such as Workday, SuccessFactors, or BambooHR.
  • Experience with local HRIS/Time & Attendance systems such as SmartHR, Akashi, Kaonavi, TeamSpirit, Jinjer, or Money Forward.
