Vast is looking for a Sr. Manager or Director, Media Production, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This pivotal role requires a self-starter with a passion for creating and managing multimedia projects from production to post production, managing a team that creates high-quality visual content communicating Vast’s missions, achievements, and culture to a global audience. As a hands-on senior leader, you will oversee and execute the production of engaging multimedia projects for web, social media, publications, live broadcast and promotional materials, ensuring they meet our high standards of creativity and impact.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end production process from concept development to post-production, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Develop and execute media production strategies that align with Vast's organizational goals and enhance our brand presence worldwide.
- Manage and mentor a team of media professionals, fostering a collaborative environment and encouraging continuous professional growth.
- Oversee the capture and editing of high-impact footage, including rocket launches and spacecraft operations, using cutting-edge technology and industry-standard software.
- Manage logistics for both on-site and remote shoots, ensuring all production activities comply with safety protocols and legal guidelines.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends in media production and integrate innovative practices and technologies to push creative boundaries.
- Efficiently manage media assets, ensuring organized archiving and easy access for future use.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure media content supports marketing, communications, and strategic objectives effectively.
- Negotiate with and manage external partners, vendors, and contractors to extend production capabilities and resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in multimedia production, preferably in a leadership role overseeing complex media projects.
- Expertise in video production tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully execute film/video projects end to end
- Experience leading a production team, with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring a team and collaborating with diverse groups.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with drone operations and aerial cinematography.
- Knowledge in basic 3D animation, motion graphics, or visual effects.
- Prior exposure to the aerospace industry or similar high-tech fields.
- A deep passion for space exploration and a commitment to contributing to Vast’s visionary goals.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
- Specific certifications, as appropriate
Pay Range:
- Sr Manager, Media Production Level IV: $147,100 - $211,700
- Director, Media Production Level V: $168,300 - $242,100
