The Role:
An effective program requires a manager who is passionate about guiding it through the complexities of its lifecycle. It requires someone who is dedicated to identifying challenges, mitigating risks, and supporting a team with vision and focus. That’s why we need you, a seasoned program manager who can ensure our program achieves success.
As a Program Manager on our team, you’ll design, implement, and maintain impactful projects by guiding integrated, multi-functional teams. We will trust you to organize and drive program objectives, while leading your teams as they navigate requirements, budget constraints, and staffing challenges
The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for projects and programs supporting our cutting edge new technology development. This role will take technological projects from concept through operations for a variety of potential areas such as our microwave program, radio frequency geo-location, or Spire’s ADS-B next generation technology as a few examples. This also includes providing guidance, leadership, and support to a team of engineers, scientists, product managers, and upper management. Responsibilities will include all aspects of program and project management from initial planning, through execution and monitoring, to project completion, including a focus on timely delivery, budgets, resource allocation, and scope management.
The successful candidate will work with a variety of stakeholders to ensure deliverables and milestones are met within scope and budget, preparing reports for upper management regarding status of project. This role will work across several departments to ensure aspects of various projects are compatible with resources to fulfil program requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage comprehensive multi-year project plans to enable appropriate execution and monitoring of progress
- Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget
- Assist in the definition of project scope, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Drive the development of project requirements, objectives, and associated project documentation
- Interface with engineering disciplines to manage inter-team agreements and deliveries.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the hardware and software aspects of the program.
- Work with functional managers around the globe to ensure resource availability and allocation
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, resources, and costs
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
- Manage the relationship with product managers, customers, and all stakeholders
- Perform risk management, actively working to disposition and manage project risks
- Integrate, track, and drive deliverables across a variety of projects and programs
- Use and continually develop leadership skills
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years combined experience in project and/or engineering leadership
- Experience leading satellite and/or space programs
- Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or applicable field of study or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products
- Experience with resource, scope, and plan management
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity
- Ability to filter and distill relevant information appropriate for audience
- Experience with Agile
- Experience with JIRA
- Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to win the confidence of highly skilled engineers and executive staff alike
- Sense of humor!
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.
