This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

As a Manager of Embedded Flight Software Engineering, you will lead a team of experts in developing flight software that enables spaceflight aboard New Glenn. You are a strong technical leader and an enabler for fast decision-making and change. This role requires you to be comfortable with taking ownership of sophisticated projects. This position functionally leads by creating software specifications through software qualification campaigns and certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of total experience in software development projects.
  • 3+ years of experience working with embedded software, BSP or kernel drivers.
  • 3+ years of experience managing software teams.
  • Experience with agile software development practices.
  • C/C++ and Python experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with and leading multi-functional teams in a diverse work environment
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with a strategic and creative mentality
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience as Scrum Master and/or Product Owner.
  • DO-178 or other regulated safety-critical software frameworks
  • Experience with integration of systems with real-time hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop frameworks or a combination of both

Compensation for WA Onsite applicants is: 187,266.00 - 262,172.40

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
