We’re on the hunt for an Intermediate Technician on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

The Intermediate Technician electronic is a junior level position. May require the supervision of more experienced technicians or members of technical staff/engineers, perform various duties related to established systems or new duties of moderate complexity. Work from written instructions or general information and participate in testing of complex production units and systems.

 Tasks:

  • Assembles and modifies breadboards and models from specific instructions or under the technical supervision of more experienced technicians or members of technical staff.
  • General knowledge in electricity and electronics (reading of schematics, basic knowledge of electronic components).
  • Performs the assembly, modifications and verification of equipment test benches.
  • From drawings and diagrams, be able to write assembly and wiring diagrams, manually or with the help of machines, tools and measuring devices,
  • Performs tests, alignment and calibration of production units and systems of intermediate complexity.
  • Records data related to results from tests or experiments. Prepares reports, can make recommendations with respect to duties that are assigned to him.
  • Performs monitoring and testing of units in thermal or vacuum chambers.
  • Follows and understands the flight test procedures.
  • Carry out work in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
  • Performs other related duties.

Tasks by Assignment: Must be able to perform the following tasks as assigned.

Electronics (RF, digital, power, payload):

  • Program PROMs and FPGAs (digital).
  • Carry out thermal and thermal vacuum tests, bench tests with the vector analyzer and other measuring instruments.
  • Perform basic RF unit tests (measurements of interference, noise figure, RF gain and power supply measurements, amplifier compression tests, oscillation verification) under the leadership of more experienced personnel (RF).
  • Carry out bench tests with digital generators and circuit analyzers and complementary equipment (e.g. serial link) (digital).
  • Carry out bench tests with the assisted system analyzer and other measuring instruments.
  • Manufacture transformers and inductors.

Calibration:

  • Performs calibration, modifications/repairs and precision measurements on equipment of medium complexity.
  • Assists in the preparation of calibration checklists for new equipment recommending required calibration standards.
  • Performs database maintenance.

Vibration:

  • Prepare and perform vibration tests.
  • Carry out simple maintenance and calibration of vibration facilities.

Maintenance:

  • Perform simple to complex maintenance of test facilities.
  • Perform calibration of various instruments and equipment.

Thermal:

  • Prepare and monitor thermal and vacuum thermal tests independently.
  • Proceed to the maintenance of the thermal and thermal vacuum test chambers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma of college studies or equivalent in mechanical, electromechanical, electrotechnical or electronic engineering or in a related field as assigned.
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluent in spoken and written French. Knowledge of English is an asset.

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
