As a technical design engineer working closely with a team of engineers, you will be supporting the design, analysis, development and testing of primary and secondary structures for the New Glenn second stage. You will share the team's impact on all aspects of the product lifecycle. You will develop conceptual designs, participate in our design review process, conduct trade studies, fabricate hardware, and execute tests. Under supervision, you will bring your designs to release maturity through detailed design, analysis, and drawing creation. You will be responsible for maintaining your hardware's schedule, plan, and budget. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to procure, fabricate, test, and ultimately fly the hardware you have crafted.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a B.S. degree program or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Hands-on engineering experience (work or university projects, such as leadership and ownership of engineering projects, clubs, and competitions.)
  • Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and first principles
  • Basic mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools
  • Takes ownership of work and is passionate about the mission
  • Able to keep up in a fast-paced environment while also maintaining the highest quality
  • Highly organized with excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Previous professional experience (internship, co-op, or full-time) in developmental projects and/or operational environments with safety-critical hardware
  • Solid understanding or familiarity with all basic engineering disciplines - mechanical, structural, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, etc.
  • Familiar with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to rapidly apply structural mechanics principles and development designs using hand calculations and finite element analysis
  • Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E), CATIA, Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10
  • Familiarity with classical hand analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark’s etc.)
  • Familiarity with analysis codes: Nastran, ANSYS, Optistruct, Abaqus, HyperMesh, Hypersizer

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
