We are seeking a talented, experienced Ground Segment Engineer to help define the future of lunar surface mobility in a fast-paced startup environment. 

 

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the build out of our ground station systems through all phases from site acquisition, frequency license approval (in collaboration w/ legal and RF teams), installation, hardware integration, testing, calibration to operations 
  • Lead Systems Engineering activities (requirements definition/derivation, V&V, etc.) for Ground Segment 
  • Create vendor RFPs and Statements of Work for procuring Ground Segment assets and services 
  • Support definition of Interface Control Documents (ICDs), including Space to Ground, Launch to Ground, External Mission Partners, and Terrestrial Comm to Ground 
  • Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture 
  • Support design and build of Mission Operations Center 
  • Work with Ground Software team for integration into Ground Segment 
  • Define verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures for ground architecture elements such as ground antennas, operations centers, launch sites, factory development and test sites, operations and support sites, cyber boundaries, and external interfaces to mission partners for tasking and dissemination 
  • Interact and communicate with mission operations personnel to assist, plan, and troubleshoot activities 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 10 years or more of experience designing, developing, testing or operating ground/satellite systems 
  • Familiarity with Antenna and Ground equipment Hardware and current industry market partners 
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure and requirements for a Ground Segment to support NASA or DoD programs 
  • Experience in acquisition source selection and down-select and/or demonstration phase execution 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline  
  • Self-motivated, focused, and driven to meet critical deadlines 
  • Excellent organization and time management skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • U.S. Person  

 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo or others 
  • Experience delivering a system through the entire product lifecycle, from program kickoff through delivery 
  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience across Ground architectures 
  • Experience with lunar rover, human spaceflight and/or autonomous software systems
