6 Month contract based in Alton, Hampshire

Who are you? 

As the person responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering spacecraft electrical and RF harness, you will perform the build and test of the various spacecraft harnesses and help co-ordinate the manufacturing, procurement, and control activities. You will be an enthusiastic, self-starting individual who is willing to take responsibility for driving good practices, process adherence and improvement across a range of projects and activities, interfacing with colleagues within In-Space Missions. You will enjoy working as part of a team, willing to drive delivery but also to flex priorities where necessary and are comfortable in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. 

 

Experience in most of the following areas is required: 

  • Build and test of flight harnesses against wiring schedules to ESA/ECSS standards (ECSS-Q-ST-70-26) 
  • Prototype wiring and new product development, working unsupervised with minimal information 
  • Working to electrical drawings, wiring schedules and BOMs (Bills of Material) 
  • Clean room disciplines and procedures, including ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) 
  • The use of common cleanroom equipment, tooling, and cleaning processes 
  • The use of common chemical adhesives, epoxies and glues and the weighing, mixing and traceability 
  • Good working knowledge of health & safety requirements and controls 
  • Maintaining accurate work records, documentation & traceability of products, parts & workmanship 
  • It would be advantageous if the candidate also had certification for ECSS-Q-ST-70-61, ECSS-Q-ST-70-28, ECSS-Q-ST-10-09 and/or experience with THT, SMT and repair and modification.

What will you be doing here?  

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: 

  • Spacecraft Harness build and test (Including ground test cables) 
  • Review of Spacecraft harness specifications and design documents 
  • Review and alignment of equipment electrical interface specifications 
  • Review of pin-to-pin definition with key stakeholders 
  • Spacecraft bracket/bulkhead connector definition in conjunction with the engineering teams 
  • Build and test harnesses to required ESA/ECSS standards  
  • Cross checking power, signal, and data bus pin-to-pin alignment during build 
  • Implement harness design to meet all electrical, grounding, and environmental requirements  
  • Liaison with the spacecraft systems team to resolve issues and anomalies 
  • Assist with harness routing discussions and the procurement of harness related parts and materials 
  • Carry out appropriate configuration and change management processes 
  • Reporting of Progress and forecasting completion dates 
  • General AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) and EVT (Environmental Verification Testing) support to the spacecraft missions
