Job description
As the advanced research & development (ARD) Lunar Scientist engineer, you will participate in projects focusing on lunar exploration and sustainable extraction of lunar resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct lunar resource studies to find sites with specific resources with the greatest likelihoods, and how to extract them.
- Conduct lunar environment studies to identify sites illumination and terrain shadowing, ground stability for drilling operations, slope, etc.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team tasked with selection of landing sites for optimized mission value - depending on mission objectives and payloads, and other constraints such as duration, illumination, terrain, resources to explore, etc.
- Work on the landing site analysis of on-going missions in ispace JP (e.g. M2 and M6), which includes the evaluation of slope, boulder, and local terrain conditions within a target range.
- Participate in the implementation of selected R&D projects, either for technology demonstration projects or for servicing customers.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
- BSc. on lunar geology or related
- 3+ years of experience in lunar geological analysis (or similar/related)
- Experienced on lunar topography and geology
- Proficient with statistical analysis tools and used to working with large datasets
Preferred Qualifications
- Msc. on lunar geology or related
- Experience on lunar mineralogy and selenology
- Proficient with software development tools, preferably python
- Knowledgeable with celestial dynamics simulations, considering sun illumination and direct-to-earth link
- Publications on lunar geology / mineralogy on relevant journals/conferences
