Description:Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) operates gas and diesel powered heavy equipment such as tractor, road grader, wheel loader, backhoe, excavator, skid steer, heavy duty snow plow, bulldozer, four wheel drive dump trucks, roller, and other heavy lift equipment to maintain, repair, and improve the company property. During winter and spring months, the HEO responds to emergency calls for snow mitigations to perform snow removal during and after storms.
HEO must be experienced in working with a variety of equipment and materials (rock, gravel, earth) for construction, demolition, maintenance, repairs, and other campus projects to include:
-Following safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment
-Perform clearing, leveling, digging, trenching, excavating, grading, backfilling, and compacting
-Working around a variety of utilities both above and below ground
-Operates equipment to maintain, repair, and improve catch basins and storm water areas
-Perform clearing and maintenance of roads, ditches, and trails for fire mitigation purposes
-Read and interpret blue prints, maps, and drawings to determine work requirements
-Operating equipment in a variety of weather conditions and terrains
-Completing daily logs and work orders to track assignments and equipment usages
-Collaborating with other team members to ensure safe project success
-Performs other related duties as assigned
-Performs routine and emergency maintenance on equipment
Basic Qualifications:
Maintains constant alertness to ensure that equipment is operating properly and safely. Basic qualifications the candidate must have:
-Valid CDL drivers license with clean driving record
-3 years (minimum) experience working in construction, mining, or other related industries
-3 years (minimum) experience working around a variety of underground and overhead utilities such as water, power, gas, and electric
-3 years (minimum) experience operating wheel loaders, excavators, backhoes, heavy duty snow plows, tractors, compactors, and skid steers
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Strong communication skills
-A great attitude and mindset
-The ability to work in a team environment
Desired Skills:
-Desire 3 years experience operating road graders and bull dozers
-Experience with transportation/movement of heavy equipment for one location to another
-Experience with heavy and large scale snow removal
-Strong problem solving skills

The base range for this position in Colorado is $25.79 - $39.71.
