Spire Global is a space-to-cloud analytics company that owns and operates the largest multi-purpose constellation of satellites. Its proprietary data and algorithms provide the most advanced maritime, aviation, and weather tracking in the world. In addition to its constellation, Spire’s data infrastructure includes a global ground station network and 24/7 operations that provide real-time global coverage of every point on Earth.
Spire Global is seeking an assembly technician for a new and exciting product line. The products are complex electromechanical devices which will be deployed in harsh environments in the field (outdoors). The role will require a range of skills, from analytical thinking to hands-on implementation and testing. Spire anticipates producing on the order of 1000 device/year.Responsibilities:
- Device assembly: Assemble electromechanical devices according to provided schematics, diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Contribute to developing assembly and testing processes, setting up facilities and drafting instructions.
- Install and integrate components such as computers, RF receivers, antennas, power supplies, and ancillary circuitry with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct thorough quality checks at each stage of assembly to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Diagnose and resolve assembly issues promptly to maintain production schedules and product quality.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, including any modifications or adjustments made during assembly.
- Work closely with engineering and design teams to provide feedback on assembly processes and suggest improvements for manufacturability.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience with assembly of electromechanical or electronic assemblies.
- Experience working in an electro-mechanical manufacturing company, a precision manufacturing company, or high-volume manufacturing company.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as: layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures/work instructions; schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience using basic electronic test equipment (e.g. multimeters, power supplies)
- Experience with time-optimized assembly for medium to high-volume manufacturing.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience building wiring looms and cable harnesses.
- Experience with Linux terminals.
- Familiarity with radio-frequency technologies
- Familiarity with networking technologies
- Experience with electrical wiring.
- Proficiency in soldering techniques for surface mount and through-hole components.
- Hands-on experience with sub-GHz radiofrequency and embedded computing systems
- Knowledge of best practices for installing, maintaining, and weatherproofing systems deployed in extreme environments.
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.
