Job description
Duties
- Provides oversight of implemented environmental requirements such as (air, surface water, hazardous waste, CERCLA, NEPA, natural resources, cultural resources, sustainability, energy, etc.,).
- Acts as a subject matter expert for all environmental compliance issues, advising organization management and representing the organization in communications with external agencies.
- Complies with environmental reporting requirements and/or analyze and manage environmental records and information systems.
- Advises organization officials on advance environmental stewardship and ensures that environmental statutory and regulatory compliance are met.
- Supports environmental compliance enforcement which involves evaluating and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and programs through permitting, self-assessments, audits, inspections, investigation, and corrective action activities.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
- Coordinating and planning environmental protections programs or projects in areas which may include environmental management, hazardous material, and waste activities for large and small industrial operations;
- Preparing and reviewing documents for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or other environmental laws, regulations, or policies;
- Negotiating with stakeholders and interpreting guidelines to ensure maintenance activities are in compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
