Soldering Technician

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity within our Hughes Network Systems division for a Soldering Technician located at our Germantown, MD facility.

Responsibilities:

• Review Engineering documentation, manufacturing travelers, and work instructions
• Solder to J-STD-001 Class II and III
• Perform rework/repair to IPC 7711 & 7721 standards on circuit boards.
• Remove, repair, and reapply components on heavy ground plane boards.
• Solder SMT components down to an 0201-package size or smaller
• Good eyesight and eye/hand coordination
• Ability to solder using a microscope.
• Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
• Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Previous thru-hole & surface mount soldering experience or training.
• Interpret PCB Board schematics as well as Wiring Drawings
• Solder precision electro-mechanical equipment, wiring harnesses, and PCB Board assemblies used in computers, electronic instruments, and similar electronic systems.
• Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of workpieces to solder joints, using soldering iron, gas torch, or electric-ultrasonic equipment.
• Grind, cut, buff, or bend edges of workpieces to be joined to ensure snug fit, using power grinder and hand tools.
• Remove workpieces from molten solder and hold parts together until color indicates that solder has set.

Basic Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or other related fields
• IPC610 and J STD certification required
• High School diploma or equivalent

Essential Qualifications:  

• Must be able to lift to 15 lbs.
