Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Microelectronics Center group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, passionate, and creative Foundry Operations Manager 2 for the Advanced Technology Labs (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grummanβs ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and providing leading-edge technology development in superconducting electronics. The ATL Silicon Foundry Operations Manager 2 will be a manager of managers, leading the teams for our weekday silicon fab manufacturing operations. This candidate will be responsible for directing, planning, and managing the work through the first, second, and third shift operations managers overseeing our silicon semiconductor fabrication area. The Fab Operations Manager is responsible for the supervision of shift managers and represented employees working in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The manager is expected to spend up to 50% of their time in the cleanroom lab area supporting foundry operations from the shop floor. The individual will regularly align fab operations activities with other groups including Environmental Health & Safety, Quality, Process Engineering, Semiconductor Technologies, Equipment Engineering, Systems and Applications, and Program Management.
Other responsibilities include:
- Provide direction and guidance to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies
- Meeting fab throughput and productivity metrics, product delivery schedules, fab yields, and overall fab quality
- Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts, 5S activities, lean manufacturing principles
- Involved in staffing decisions, training, and driving engagement efforts to achieve the employee's highest potential
- Provide ATL leadership with progress reports and presentations
- Work independently across the organization to meet fab needs and goals
- Maintain a safe work environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with 9 years of experience, Masters Degree with 7 years of experience, or PhD with 4 years of experience
- Supervision or people management experience, including performance management, compensation planning, and reviewing & scheduling workflow
- Understanding of basic manufacturing and production concepts
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in the microelectronics industry
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance for which U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry
- Technical knowledge and understanding of semiconductor processes and toolsets
- Working knowledge of industry and management methodologies focused on continuous improvement in manufacturing, such as SPC, 5S, Total Quality Management, or Six Sigma
- Experienced in ISO 9001 or AS9100 audits and requirements, knowledgeable of Industrial Hazardous Waste Management procedures
- Active Top Secret Clearance, SCI eligible
