Position Description:

The ideal candidate would be familiar with mechanical design, structural analysis, thermal design and analysis, material selection, and EMI design considerations as they pertain to electronics and avionics in extreme environments. Familiarity with space and satellite environment and their effects on mechanical structures and thermal dissipation is required.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Directly design enclosures of electronic assemblies (PCBA's), etc. 
  • Design moderately complex mechanical/aerospace component or systems.
  • Thermal, shock and vibrational analysis with electronic or similar assemblies using SolidWorks, drafting standards per ASME-Y14.5, and methods of GD&T
  • Create Mechanical BOM’s selecting proper materials (adhesives, overcoats, inks, etc.) based on spaceflight requirements/restrictions and materials engineering knowledge.
  • Select proper fasteners to meet space flight requirements.
  • Select appropriate connectors for spaceflight enclosures both internal and external.
  • Write reports and presentations and contribute to proposals and design reviews
  • Work with Subject Experts to complete complex designs for both digital and RF systems
  • Work with vendors to source manufactured hardware
  • Create and present engineering PowerPoint presentations internally and for customers.
  • Work effectively in a leadership or support role on a multi-disciplinary project team.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent years of experience 
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering design as it relates to Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs)
  • Knowledge of space flight requirements, standards and environments is required
  • 5 years minimum experience in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD experience
  • Strong background in the knowledge drafting standards per ASME-Y14.5 and GD&T
  • Understanding of machining and mechanical assembly as it impacts design
  • Experience writing manufacturing instructions.

 

 

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000
