Description:

a.i solutions is seeking a Radiation Engineer who will support Missile Defense Agency mission and quality assurance by participating in multi-disciplinary teams conducting quality and mission assurance evaluations and assessments for existing missile defense components and architectures. This position’s responsibility will involve analysis of electrical and electronic components and assemblies. The engineer will need to understand the importance of providing timely support to all tasks and will be a motivated in taking initiative to identify and solve problems. The role will act as both an individual contributor and a member of an established team environment as required by the specific needs of each task.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:  

  • Experience in analysis of radiation environments; including the natural orbital trapped particle environments (including temporal and spatial variance), the natural Interplanetary environment, transient environments (solar events, coronal mass ejection, space weather, etc.), models for energetic particle environments, and transport of radiation environments including, geomagnetic shielding, and analysis of spacecraft shielding (e.g., FastRAD, Space Radiation).
  • Experience in writing or reviewing radiation effects test reports on electronics.
  • Experience in leading engineering efforts for complex weapon systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and processes for operational programs.
  • Experience providing daily supervision and direction to contractor teams. 
  • Ability to travel onsite at minimum 1-2 days per week 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BS degree in physics or electrical engineering from a school with Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) accreditation as professional engineering curriculum with 10 years of experience in radiation effects on electronic components.
    • Equivalent experience accepted: MS degree and 5 years or PhD and 3 years experience in electronics and radiation effects
  • US citizenship
  • Security Clearance: Interim Secret required to start and must have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Desired Qualifications:

  • ANSI/ ESD S20.20 certification desired.
  • IPC J-STD-001 certification desired.
  • Active TS/SCI
