Job description

a.i. solutions is looking for a highly motivated Communications and Telemetry (C&T) Manager for the Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support (ELVIS) team supporting the NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) C&T Group at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), California. This role will be responsible for oversight and execution of all engineering, project management, operations, maintenance, documentation control, and personnel management of the C&T Group, as a direct report to the VSFB Site Operations Manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed the expectations of our customers.

 

Essential Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical, managerial, and operational direction to VSFB C&T personnel for mission roles and support, system operations and maintenance, troubleshooting and analysis, configuration control, and implementation of complex to extremely complex C&T systems
  • Prepare, present/brief, and/or direct LSP C&T staff resources of engineering design and implementation of technical documentation, charts, metrics, and graphs to NASA, spacecraft, and contractor personnel in support of NASA Resident Office (RO) Launch Site Integration Manager's (LSIM) and contractor Launch Site Support Engineers (LSSE's) mission meetings. Support includes, but not limited to: Mission Integration Working Group, Ground Operations Working Group, Flight Readiness Reviews and Launch Readiness Reviews to ensure C&T mission operational readiness.
  • Lead or direct regular interface with Kennedy Space Center NASA, contractor, management, and technical C&T personnel to ensure cross coast integration and communicate status of VSFB C&T system engineering, configuration, and integration requirements in support of mission operations, project planning, and execution.
  • Lead or direct, and/or assign C&T personnel to interface with NASA LSIM's and LSSE's to assist and/or develop all C&T technical and mission requirements of the communications annex for all Launch Site Support Plans (LSSP)
  • Lead or direct regular interface with management and engineering to develop, implement technologies/solutions associated with C&T transport telemetry, video, voice, timing and networks to the LSP customer’s desired location(s)
  • Lead or direct dissemination of timely status in support of both direct mission support with existing infrastructure and long-range planning, engineering, and implementation of new systems and technologies.
  • Lead or direct staff to ensure continuous monitoring of all C&T systems and provide instruction for necessary adjustments to ensure optimal system performance and security.
  • Lead or direct staff to ensure planning and security measures to monitor, protect sensitive data, and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks within the communications and telemetry environment.
  • Lead or direct staff to ensure timely completion of direct maintenance, upgrades, standardizing operating systems.
  • Able to work non-standard work shifts and perform travel when required, travel estimated at < 10%.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or proven directly relevant experience and training/certifications directly associated with LSP and industry systems..
  • Experience with implementation, configuration and troubleshooting of video/audio/telecommunications systems
  • Experience related to design, operation, and configuration of communications systems to include voice video, networks, ad timing utilizing the most efficient protocols in a real-time operational environment.
  • Experience with project management and leading individuals and teams..
  • Currently possess an active California Driver’s license and an active DoD secret security clearance or the ability to obtain prior to start.
