Our world-class team includes experts in all spacecraft subsystems design, development, and test, on-orbit operations, and safety.

Intuitive Machines is seeking a mid-level Mission Operations Engineer to facilitate vehicle development, organize top-level operations/engineering integration, and serve as one of the Ops team leaders on our mission management team.  We are seeking the best, the brightest, and the driven to be a part of our growing suite of lunar operations, including landers, rovers, data services, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Mission Analysis Cycles to mature system designs and operational products
  • Support necessary board/panel meetings to present results and coordinate amongst the team with a focus on requirements, risks, change requests, non-conformance reports and problem reports
  • Participate in planning, scripting, and execution of training simulations to support Intuitive Machines flight controllers and engineers 
  • Draft and maintain lessons and procedures for multiple spacecraft subsystems 
  • Assist with real-time operations to include simulations, training, and operational space missions
  • Assist with Test & Verification planning and integrated test configurations, inventory, procurement, drawings and procedures
  • Utilize software-based methods to track requirements, risks and change requests
  • Provide mentorship and support of real-time operators to build and maintain effective operations teams across all IM programs, including lunar landers and relay satellites 
  • Eligible to cross-train in real-time support positions as required, including as Activity Director – with ops-room leadership of one of three mission operations teams
  • General Ops & Engineering Integration to include mission and pre-launch timelines, payload integration and timelines, downlink data budgets, power budget & requirements integration and procedures development

Required Education/Experience/Skills

  • B.S. in science/engineering or a related technical field 10 years’ experience developing space vehicle hardware/software/training systems/operations products, including requirements, risk-tracking, change/problem reporting
    • Test & Verification planing/coordination
    • Operations planning
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, hard charging, high stakes environment 
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Desired Skills

  • Flexibility and creativity to seek, create, and utilize operations and systems engineering practices that suit a lean and agile lunar operations company without sacrificing technical excellence and integrity 
  • Development of spacecraft preliminary designs including architecture studies, design analyses and budgets, and systems requirements and specifications 
  • Experience translating design information and technical documentation into functional operations protocols, procedures, and mission sequences/timelines 
  • Experience with generating and revising operational timelines and procedures
  • Flight controller experience in human or robotic space applications, or other high-stress operational environments
  • Experience with documentation and collaboration tools such as Confluence, Jira, MS Office (MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel)

Essential Requirements

  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
