Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to join our Structural Analysis team within the Hardware Synergy Organization.  Our work includes, but is not limited to Airborne Multifunctional Sensors such as Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radars: https://www.northropgrumman.com/what-we-do/air/active-electronically-scanned-array-aesa-radars/. The position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.
 

Duties and Responsibilities may Include:

  • Performing structural analysis on aerospace, shipboard, ground based, and space radar systems and structures. 
  • Performing loads development, stress analysis (static and fatigue), and vibration analysis of metallic and composite structures. 
  • Supporting structural certification testing.
  • Performing classical structural analysis and finite element analysis.
  • Utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills through reports and presentations. 
  • Collaborating in a team environment, mentoring less experienced personnel, prioritizing and organizing tasks to support program milestones.
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or related technical field
  • Typical minimum structural analysis experience / education: 9 years with Bachelor of Science; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD for Sr. Principal Engineer
  • Experience with classical structural and finite element analysis
  • Software experience: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience developing Finite Element Models (FEM) from CAD geometry
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance per business requirements
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Active Secret/Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Software experience: NX.CAE (SimCenter 3D) / NX.Nastran, Ansys Mechanical, or MSC Patran
  • Experience with DOD and/or FAA program structural load environmental requirements.
  • Experience with aircraft structural composites analysis and airworthiness certification
  • Previous MRB Experience/ Authority

This position is contingent on the ability to obtain or maintain a US Secret Clearance or higher.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
