Working in the Supply Chain Team

The supply chain team is the backbone of our Operations responsible for initiating, expediting and closing procurement of various subsystems and services, as well as moving satellites and equipment across the world. They manage the supply of key components, materials whilst expanding our technology and services capabilities by partnering with world-class partners and suppliers to deliver ongoing projects and future ones which will help deliver our customer missions. This team ensures that we can deliver our broad space mission service offering, building on top of the work of key suppliers and ensuring our competitiveness in the market

What will you be doing?

You’ll be interacting with the Head of Supply Chain and other groups within the Operations Department, namely Project Management, Quality Assurance, and regular interaction with the broader Technology team on various purchasing needs. Most importantly you will be the front face of the company as you will be interacting with Global suppliers and companies for differing purchasing needs.

Your tasks will be diverse - from purchasing components, materials or full subsystems for Satellites to organising and managing the logistics and shipment of those between company sites and finally to launch sites.

You will monitor the delivery of various supplies and ensure that products and services are on time and quality.

You will be working with the Bids team to support in structuring more accurate costs and lead time to win more projects for the company and developing and strengthening long-lasting relationships with our suppliers and partners.

This role is a great opportunity to grow in the key areas of supply chain/procurement and to gain familiarity with different methodologies (negotiation, cost strategies, global supplier relationship management) in a very exciting and growing sector which is the small-satellite world.

In addition to this, you will be actively involved with inventory management and monitor closely what comes in and what goes out of the company.

What you need to be successful

  • Communication - You'll be communicating with both internal and external stakeholders a lot of the time, so having great communication is a must!
  • Attention to Detail - From completing procurements to shipping high value satellites globally, you will need to show diligence in all areas and hence having great attention to detail is a must.
  • Fast paced - As you will be responsible for purchasing products and services with a fast turn around, you’ll know how to keep cool under these circumstances while still delivering to a high standard.
  • A proactive self-starter - There’s an immense need for being proactive and juggling different tasks, so having the right attitude to work is really important.
  • Negotiation - As part of this role, you’ll be involved  with the negotiation of costs and lead time with various suppliers, so being ready and eager to jump in is a bonus.
  • Independence - At times, we’ll need you to take initiative and work independently. Of course, we’ll always be around to support you but we encourage you to be a driving force within your team!
  • Analytical - You’ll be an analytical thinker who’s able to communicate metrics, including costs and delivery timelines effectively.
