This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers you will a team-member of the Polymeric Additive Manufacturing (P-AM) group. The Materials and Process (M&P) Engineer will support the production of additively manufactured space flight hardware and ground support equipment for business units across Blue Origin. This role supports day to day operations as well as the development and implementation of new processes that improve work center capability, quality and productivity. You will contribute to the maturation of processes and systems as P-AM transforms into a best-in-class additive manufacturer.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Own production processes, maintain associated standard operation procedures (SOPs) and provide training to floor personnel.

Improve 3D printed part quality and work center productivity through engineering analysis and regular continuous improvement efforts.

Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and drive corrective actions to address non-conformances.

Engage with new and existing material and hardware suppliers to develop supplier requirements and resolve quality issues.

Drive qualification of polymer AM materials, equipment, and processes to meet customer aerospace requirements.

Collaborate with internal partners to ensure AM process specification conformance.

Support new technology and material research activities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-
Minimum of a B.S. degree in Aerospace, Material Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering or related field.

1+ years of demonstrated M&P engineering experience
-
Work experience authoring and revising SOPs or work instructions.

Familiarity with design of experiments and an understanding of the scientific method.

Experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of components or materials.

Outstanding technical and non-technical writing and verbal skills.

Ability to support operations onsite in Kent, Washington during standard hours and (if required) off hours via phone or online tools

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Minimum Qualifications:

Familiarity with at least one AM technology and a general understanding of its process-structure-properties relationships.

1 to 2 years’ experience operating various AM machines and related post-processing equipment.

General understanding of basic polymer science principles.

Experience with AM parameter development.

Familiarity with statistical process control tools and lean manufacturing principles.
