Working in the Electronics Team

The Electronics Team is responsible for designing, integration and maintenance of electronics hardware and firmware for the entire satellite.  As a multi-disciplined team we see exposure to every technical challenge presented by the satellite development ranging from power electronics, digital & analog design, digital & RF communications.


What will you be doing?

Whilst communicating with other departments as part of the day-to-day, you will be focussed on electronics hardware development, practical fault finding, testing and debugging. 


You will work with the team to  advance the development of the Electronic Power System (EPS) and On-Board Computer (OBC) as well as all other electrical subsystems of the satellite. You will be a key contributor to the engineering of innovative solutions to satisfy the requirements of current and future space missions. 


At OC, you will experience the full product life cycle of a satellite and be in constant communication with other departments to ensure success of each mission.


You will work within all areas of electronics design: Development, part definition and generation, schematic capture, PCB layout, embedded code generation & maintenance, development testing/debug and verification.

What you need to be successful

  • You’ll be confident in a multidisciplinary capacity focused on embedded electronics and electronics hardware design
  • You’ll have strong problem solving skills with an ability to confidently investigate electrical faults using design files & knowledge of the system and previous experience.
  • You’ll be communicating a lot, so be confident in speaking, listening and writing with colleagues and other stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  • You’ll have a strong understanding of quality and how to apply this when generating and controlling design requirements
  • You’ll have a good appreciation for EMC & EMI design mitigations and test methodologies
  • You’ll have the ability to use CAD tools such as Altium or KiCad for schematic and layout generation.
