Mission of the Position
The Project Manager will manage complex aerospace projects while working with a functional team of engineers, technicians and subcontractors. This individual will spend a significant amount of time on project management responsibilities, focuses on meeting project commitments including project deliverables, risk management, and communications with stakeholders.
Essential Duties:
Project Management Expertise
1. Plan and execute projects at all phases, from concept to flight.
2. Develop and maintain relationships with internal / external customers to assure customer requirements are being met.
3. Facilitate the definition of project goals, task, and requirements, and assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects and functional areas.
4. Create WBSs, as needed, from the understanding of project objectives. Coordinate with the technical team to determine a detailed list of tasks which can be utilized to create and implement SOWs, schedules, and budgets.
5. Lead the team to develop risks and opportunity registers that address costs, schedule, and technical development.
6. Foster an effective team communication culture.
7. Manage and report budgets, scope, and schedules.
8. Identify and manage risk.
9. Continually assess project team performance and communicate to management any resource constraints that jeopardize project success.
10. Assist management in resource requirement projections.
11. Manage project close-out activities.
Additional Responsibilities
12. Identify and implement Project Management process improvements.
13. Develop and maintain key relationships with Nanoracks Program Managers and Management team.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Provide day to day control of project team in coordination with functional managers.
Competencies
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required.
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Project Management or other relevant engineering filed is preferred.
Experience:
• Three (3) to five (5) years of project management experience.
• Experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is a plus.
Certifications & Licenses:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate is preferred.
