This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you will lead the New Glenn Launch Operations and Orbital Launch Site ordnance systems management as well as develop and execute ordnance operations for Launch Operations at the launch site. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of Blue Origin’s Orbital Launch Site and requires strong drive, attention to detail, organization, working long hours, and the ability to multi-task. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities include training on explosives safety and handling, oversight of inventory and movement of explosives and/or energetic materials, oversee all applicable regulations for each of the Blue Origin locations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in leading and managing the New Glenn Launch Operations Ordnance inventory

    • Maintains DOT CFR 49 & IATA Hazardous Material Shipping Certification

    • Tracks Ordnance Items from Supplier

    • Arranges Ordnance Delivery/Receipt

    • Maintains Master Ordnance List

    • Assigns Serial Numbers by Vehicle - FIFO

    • Schedules Service Life Testing (SLT)

    • Arranges Ordnance Shipments (Testing, Offsite Work, VAFB)

    • Coordinates Ordnance Receipt, Storage & Delivery with Ordnance Services (Magazines)

    • Tracks ordnance lot status and testing

    • Monitors industry notifications for similar ordnance systems (e.g. GIDEP)

  • Manage relevant assigned projects with responsibility for project planning, development, and change management, input to budget development and updating, clearly defining assigned project deliverables to the Launch Execution Director.

  • Coordinate assigned project, daily business relationships and expectations in conjunction with overall Operations deliverables.

  • Work with the Managers within Operations to support and provide input into the Strategy, Master Schedules, and Plans in order for Operations to achieve its goals.

  • Provide strong leadership and support within the organization to always consider problem solving to ‘Root Cause’, ensuring that we eliminate repeat issues.

  • Review and provide input to ordnance operations training materials for inclusion into the Blue Learning Management System.

  • Provide training on explosives safety and handling on a regular basis.

  • Obtain BATF employee possessor certification.

  • Obtain State of Florida User License or Blasters Permit.

  • Support production build and ordnance operations at the Blue Origin Florida locations, as required.

  • Support launch vehicle integration operations at the Blue Origin Florida locations, as required.

  • Oversight of inventory and movement of explosives and/or energetic materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of work experience with ordnance operations and inventory control

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present Blue Origin to our customers in both written and personal meeting scenarios

  • Experience with developing and executing launch operations procedures

  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to gain access to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

  • Knowledge of BATF regulations

  • The ability to work on own initiative and under pressure

  • Experience working in a fast-moving environment and be able to demonstrate good time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to represent the company internally and externally in a highly professional and credible manner

  • Able to work full time schedule, overtime, on-call nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Experience working with the requirements of AFMAN 91-201 and DESR 6055.09-M

  • Position requires: lifting (50lbs), climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying, and standing for extended periods (8 hours min.)

  • Able to work in harsh climate environment.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or related field of study

  • 8 or more years of Operations experience (Manufacturing, Material Management and/or Engineering)

  • 5 or more years in a Leadership Role responsible for Technical Products, Project Cost & Schedule Performance

  • Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends.

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook)

  • Experience with project management/scheduling experience (MS Project, Primavera P6)

  • Experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

  • Must be able to work A, B, C, or D shift

  • Ability to support scheduled work shift, overtime, and weekends if/when required
