York is seeking software engineering interns for our Summer 2024 Internship Program. The ideal York Engineering Intern is a highly motivated, proactive individual who enjoys learning and is excited about working on space hardware and real missions. Each York Space Systems intern has the opportunity to work on York missions, while participating in a tailored engineering training program. Each intern is provided with a dedicated Senior Engineer as a mentor and is assigned a scope bound project that is challenging yet achievable during the duration of the internship. We are seeking a highly motivated Juniors or Seniors for this internship program specializing in Aerospace Engineering or relevant field to join our dynamic team. The intern will investigate and demonstrate the use of autonomy on board a York spacecraft to prove the effectiveness of this software for operations within simulation. This proof-of-concept will help facilitate future integration of the Mission Autonomy FSW into York operations. Using Orchestra, the closed loop simulation for test automation, the intern will demonstrate the use of onboard tasking with the mission operator-out-of-the-loop for common mission planning operations. By doing so, the intern can successfully demonstrate more efficient constellation management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to development of a high-fidelity spacecraft
Interface with multiple engineering disciplines and project stakeholders
Contribute to design reviews, process improvement and tool development
Execute a time bound, well defined project which is of high value to York
Gain hands-on assembly and test experience

QUALIFICATIONS

Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited university studying engineering
Must have completed at least Freshman year of the degree program
Strong communicator, great team player and overall hard worker
Self-starter and self-motivated with a hunger to learn
An interest in full time employment at York Space Systems
Demonstrated interest in spacecraft and space systems
Willing and able to work in office (this is not a remote internship)
