Job Overview & Responsibilities

This Electrical Engineer 2 opportunity is a member of the Engineering and Infrastructure department at ULA's Launch Operations facility in Cape Canaveral. Responsibilities include: 
  • Design, operation, and maintenance of ground (fixed and portable) electrical/power systems used at ULA Launch Sites.
  • Assignments will include engineering support of:
    • Electromechanical, Power, and Control Systems in day-to-day execution of launch infrastructure design, maintenance and operations.
  • Design and implementation of systems supporting new Vulcan launch system capabilities, customer funded special studies, mission unique modifications, or other major infrastructure modifications and/or system upgrades.
  • Apply engineering knowledge and expertise in technological considerations, cost/financial administration, and project management.
  • Coordinate with technical staff, functional groups and contractors in the design, operations and maintenance of new/existing electromechanical systems.
  • Coordination of Base High Voltage supply infrastructure and readiness in support of Launch Operations.
  • Develop new and revise existing operational test procedures, maintenance documentation, and drawing packages associated with launch facility electrical systems, primary and backup power - medium and low voltage (12kV, 480 VAC, 120VAC, 24V control, etc.) systems.

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Exposure to working with electrical/power engineering in an Aerospace, Utilities, or similarly complex environment.
  • Ability to work in an office type environment, with some field operations, and maintenance support (launch pad and processing facilities).
  • Ability to travel to other ULA facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Project management experience demonstrating communication, writing and oral skills and ability to work with a wide range of team members including customers and subcontractors.
  • Exposure or experience with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
