This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, w here our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.
As part of a passionate team of experts, you will act as a Turbomachinery Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead for a Blue Origin engine program. Within Blue Engines our product-based teams support the early development and definition, lead the design of critical hardware and software, develop operational plans and procedures, support fabrication method evaluation/tooling design, manage risk, ensure qualification for flight, and work with assembly/Operations personnel to test and deliver our components/ engines within schedule and budget. In this specific role you will be managing the IPT that is responsible for assemblies, interfaces, and installations of both fuel and oxidizer turbopumps within the engine assembly. This includes ownership of design, development, manufacture, repair, analysis, testing, qualification, flight support, and continuous improvements for both turbopumps. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. The level of this role will be either 3 or 4 determined by applicant experience.

Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, execution, and direction for all phases of projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.
- Develop program plans, schedules and budgets from both internally derived goals/constraints and from customer contracts/ statements-of-work. Provide clear scope-based time-phased demand to the IPT supporting functions, negotiate the appropriate personnel supply & escalate where additional support is needed to meet program and company goals.
- Monitor technical progress, requirements, scope, budget (labor and costs), schedule, deliverables and risks and review recommendations for change with program management.
- Owner of business rhythm reviews and communication paths to senior management supporting program manager and business teams, including: program management reviews weekly/monthly, schedule and finance reviews, long term forecasting and estimate-at-complete (EAC), business plan, and project deep dives.
- Owner of all IPT data artifacts including engineering reports, risks, engineering changes, waivers, corrective actions, and work orders.
- Support the development of specifications, requirements and management of interfaces between customers and project technical efforts.
- Create the framework used to develop and monitor project metrics and manage the collection of project data.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering with Program and Project Management training.
- 5+ years liquid rocket engine, turbine engine, spacecraft, launch vehicle, and or aircraft development experience.
- 2+ in progressive project management roles.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in spacecraft, launch vehicle, or aircraft development; including one or more of the following: spacecraft, launch vehicles, liquid rocket engines or components, engine installations, turbine engines, structures and tanks, and systems engineering.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing small teams on fast-paced projects.
- Experience with logic-linked scheduling and cost-account management.
- Experience with integrated master schedules, risk management, configuration management, requirements management.
- Experience in budget management.
- Leadership experience as well as a history of mentoring.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Proficient working knowledge of turbomachinery with experience in either design, analysis, or testing.
- Formal project management training or certification.
- Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle.
- Experience with human spaceflight or high-performance aircraft systems.
- Experience with Primavera (P6), CREO, Windchill, Confluence, Jira.
- Experience with proposal leadership or support (technical/management volumes, BOE development, etc.).
