EEE quality activities related to Thales Alenia Space Italy programs

The Electrical, Electromechanical and Electronic (EEE) components are the beating heart of the various equipment that make up a satellite. Their functionality and their reliability is essential to the success of any space mission; the quality of a component, be it the simplest of resistances or the most complex of microcircuits, is therefore decided a priori, according to the mission. For this reason a "space" component is carefully selected and before its assembly in the final apparatus it is tried, tested and retested until there is reasonable certainty that it does not fail after launch.

The work in the EEE Parts Quality Assurance team is therefore to ensure that the components assembled during the integration phase of the electronic units and the satellite comply with the program requirements. To do this, it is necessary to continuously relate with the customer, who is called to share our decisions, and with external suppliers, who may also have a different way of working from ours.

You are asked to give your technical or technological opinion on the present problem in order to find the best possible solution with all the people involved (Program manager, Engineering, Integration, Purchasing, etc.).

The ideal candidate has a good knowledge of electronic component technologies, will deal with space quality systems (ESA, NASA, MIL), is fluent in English, French would be considered as a plus, is able to coordinate activities, is proactive and will play in the EEE Quality Assurance Team parts.

The daily activities will include:

• Be the Thales Alenia Space interface with internal/external customers, units suppliers, Competences Centers for all aspects about electronic components.
• Assess the Program requirements and contribute to release relevant documentation
• Guarantee the conformance of the EEE parts with internal or customers’ requirements.
• Issue and update the System Declared Component Lists and PAD Status List
• Verify the activity of the suppliers :
• by review of EEE documentation .
• by attendance to review and progress meetings with suppliers.
• Checking the requirements correct flow-down to suppliers .
• Approving electronic component in dedicated meetings with supplier and Customers (Parts Control Board-PCB meetings).
• Co-operate with PA managers and the Project Office team and inform the program in case of EEE criticalities.
• Contribute to the management of EEE Non-conformances affecting the parts procured for internal production (procurement issues, incoming, production failures, …)
• Attendance to the Non-Conformance Review Board meeting (NRB).
• Review and assessment of EEE test reports and failure analysis..
• Attending in the international groups on EEE parts development.
