Responsibilities

  • Carry out Japanese to English/English to Japanese interpretation during internal and external meetings.
    • Providing parties with clear and exact interpretations of verbal communication.
  • Consult and coordinate with engineering teams to translate various types of internal and external technical documents from both Japanese to English and English to Japanese language.
    • Ensure technical terms and terminology remain accurate/consistent throughout translations.
    • Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation.
  • Interpretation: Translation ratio is roughly 7 to 3 but may change with the progress of the project.
  • Majority of assignments are for the Engineering department, but interpreters are required to support all functions, such as HR interviews, All-Hands meetings, onboarding orientations and Shareholders meetings.
  • Flexible workstyle (WFH is optional). Most of the meetings are held on-line, but some meetings (once or twice a week) require off-line interpretation support at the office or other locations.

 

Essential Skills

  • Native level Japanese fluency
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an in-house translator/interpreter, with minimum 2 years of experience in simultaneous interpretation.
  • Experience working as a translator/interpreter in technical industries alongside engineers
  • Proficiency in Zoom and Microsoft Office Tools

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with engineers in the aerospace industry
  • Practical knowledge of project management
